What's New?

05/23/04 - *Due to some web server and FTP issues, I had to reorganize the entire site and re-upload almost every image. That was a real treat with my 56k modem, but due to my hosting company upgrading my hosting package and server space by 700MB or so, the transition to the reorganized pages was seamless.  It took me a few days to get everything on the server, but for a couple days I actually had 2 entirely different SodaPins.com sites available for viewing.  *The original web based visitor hit counter, that I'd had on the site since Day 1, went MIA a few months ago.  Needless to say, I needed a counter, so I installed the Bravenet counter that's on the main page.  I'm not particularly fond of it, so it may end up changing to another service in the future.  *Since I recently acquired all of the Coke USA released Athens pins, I decided it was finally time to add Athens pin related pages to the site. I don't have any of the pins scanned yet, but the pages are there for me to add the pins to when I finally get them done.  *I've also added a Sydney Coke Pin Variations page, after coming across a small selection of pins done in varying processes.  Along the same lines of pin variations, I'm also currently working on a 'Recycled Pin Designs' page, for the pins that seem to appear at every Olympic Games with just the Olympic logo changed.  If you collect Coke Olympic pins, then I'm sure you know what I'm referring to :-)

01/16/04
- *It now seems to be the norm for me, my updating my site, but not updating this page. I'll try and make it a point this year, that when I update the site, to update this page :-)  *I deleted a bunch of pins off my 'Most Wanted' page, but I also added quite a few. I've known I've needed the pins, I just finally found the time to list them and post the images. I need all of the Coca-Cola pins that have been released thus far for the Athens 2004 Olympics, so if you happen to have any spare, either for sale or for trade, then please feel free to e-mail with trade ideas or price lists.  *I still need to revamp the Sydney and Salt Lake City pages, as well as update just about every trade page on the site (I have a lot of pins to add), but I'm looking to dive head first into the task this coming weekend.

07/11/03 - *Wow, it's been quite some time since I've updated this page. I've been updating my site about once or twice a month, more if time allows, but for some reason I always seem to forget this page.  *I added a few pins to the trade pages, as well as deleted a few here and there too. I have a bunch more to add, I just haven't had the time to get them scanned yet. Hopefully I'll have some time this coming weekend, to add more pins to the trade pages and to hopefully clean up the Sydney and Salt Lake City pages like I've been wanting to.

02/24/03 - *I finally added the "First Time Visitors" page, as well as a "What I'll Trade For" page.  The pages explain how to navigate my site and what type of pin topics I like to collect, other than Coke pins.   *I've added quite a few pins to the site over the past few months, but haven't been updating this page as I've added them. Sorry about that, but I'm generally pretty pressed for time when I've done the updates, so I just add the pins on the page and upload them.  Because of that, some of my pages have gotten sloppy, so now I need to clean them up a bit and add in the text and details.  *I'm planning on redesigning both the Sydney and SLC Coke pin pages, to break them down into smaller categories and hopefully make them easier on people viewing my site. I know, there's nothing like sitting around waiting for a couple hundred images to appear :-)  Of course, I'm still working on those spiffy text buttons for the home page that I mentioned last year, I just haven't had too much free time to figure out the layout.  I also need to add pages for my non-pin Olympic Coke items, other than the Atlanta and Nagano pages that are currently posted for viewing.  *I finally took pictures of my framed sets, that I didn't have pictures of before, and I do believe I got them all.  Now I just need to take pictures of the sets that I've had for awhile, just to update the images with my newer digital camera.

11/19/02 - *The company that hosts my site was bought out a few months ago. My old hosting company came highly recommended, so I signed up for a yearly contract and as my luck would have it, the company started having issues within 8 months or so. I didn't have much to complain about, as the server that my site was hosted on was relatively stable, but some of the people on the other servers had major issues. The incredible customer support, that I had come to know and love, was steadily going down the tubes. Need less to say, it was only a matter of time until one of the owners stepped up to the plate and decided to get out while the gettin' was good. The company that took over, my new hosting company, came in and reassured us that everything was going to be ok and that things were going to improve quickly. What the new company didn't say right off the bat though, was that they were working on combining all of their servers under one roof in Houston (as in Texas). I received one message from them via e-mail, with a link to a 'server move schedule', but as far as keeping myself informed I had to rely on the message boards on my hosting company's web site and the graciousness of the other customers. Towards the end of October I checked the 'server move' schedule and came to find out that they had moved 3 or 4 servers from the old hosting company over to Houston and that my server was scheduled to be moved within a few days. Right about then is when the issues started for me. For almost 3 full weeks I had sporadic up then down access to my e-mail, my site and then the Control Panel (where I control my site's settings) went completely MIA. All I wanted to do was submit a support ticket to them, with the subject of "Houston, we have a problem...". Think Apollo 13 :-) So, here I am 3 weeks later and I do believe that everything's finally working, with the exception of some occasional e-mail downtime. The DNS and IP address (the numbers that are used to access my site if you don't use the name) are finally resolving where they should be, with the help of a little tweaking. A few other customers reported missing files here and there, so if you should happen to come across anything missing, please e-mail me and I'll put up a fresh version. *I updated my 'Want List', as I've obtained a bunch of the Salt Lake City Coke pins I was looking for. *As always, my big box 'o pins that I've obtained the past few weeks is running over, so hopefully I'll get them scanned sometime this week and then be able to add them to the site by Monday afternoon.

10/14/02 - *By now I've added almost all of the pins that I brought home from the Lake Placid show, which included many new additions to the trade pages, but I still have some Coke pin sets that I need to add to my collection pages.   *If you visit my site frequently, you'll notice the new 'Restaurant & Food' pin category.  That's another collection that I've got going, but again, it's just a sub-category.  I'm still spending the majority of my time searching for Coke pins that I don't have, so I've only been picking up these pins when I find them and the price is right.  *I've also added more than a few Olympic Bid pins to my collection and have decided to focus on the 2012 bids.  If you happen to have a spare 2012 bid pin that I don't have, then please let me know, as I'd very much like to either buy or trade for your pin!  *My next project is to get all my framed pin sets photographed and added to the site, which at this point should be quite a task, as I haven't been adding them for the past year or so.  Also look for a 'New and Improved' home page within the next few weeks too.  I've been debating about losing the Olympic image logos, and going to some nice colored text buttons, just to make the page a little more spiffy.

09/08/02 - *I'm attending the Lake Placid Olympin Festival, on September 13th through the 15th, so right now I'm in the process of sorting and organizing my pins that are show bound.  I've been running about 2 months behind with pin additions to the site, but should have all my new pins added within a day or two.   I have quite a few new trade pins, most are SLC, but have decided to not add them until I return from the show.  At least that way I don't have to spend the time adding them and then deleting them when I get home.  *Being that I'm attending the show, all pin trades are currently on hold until I get back.  *I'm guessing from last years show, that I'll acquire at least a 100 pins for my collection and quite a few new trade pins.  That said, please be sure to stop by the week of the 16th, to see what I've added to the site.

07/23/02 - *I've been adding and deleting pins on a regular basis, but I just haven't been updating this page. *This evening I added quite a few pins to the site, most of them were Nagano and Atlanta pins, with only 2 added to the trade pages (not even Coke). *I bought a new to me (aka: used) digital camera via eBay last week and I'm expecting it to arrive by the weekend. It's a Sony Mavica FD-73, came highly regarded from a friend, with a 10x zoom. The pin pictures my friend takes are absolutely stunning, so I'm hoping with a little practice I can get my images to be just as good. Once I get the camera, and figure out how it works, I think I'll go to town adding pictures of my framed pin sets and non-pin Coke Olympic stuff. *I'm attending a Coke Swap Meet in Ohio, courtesy of the Western Reserve Chapter of the Coca-Cola Collectors Club, on August 4th. It's the first time I'm setting up as a 'dealer' to sell stuff, so I'm more than a bit excited. Knowing me though, I'll just use the money that I get from selling my old stuff there, to buy new stuff to bring home! *I'm also attending the Lake Placid Olympin Festival in September. I've had my hotel reservations since early April, so it's Lake Placid or bust for me. Last year was my first time attending the show and I had a fabulous time, so I'm expecting I'll have a fabulous time this year too. How can one not have a great time hanging out with other pin heads all day, talking about pins? Having a bad time would be impossible.

4/21/02 - *My web site hit it's 3 year anniversary just a few days ago.  It seems like it's been such a long time, since I created the site and brought my collection on-line, but I guess 3 years isn't that long when you think about it.  *I haven't had any free time on my hands, due to new work responsibilities and some personal issues, and my web site and return e-mail's have suffered from it.  Today was my first real day off in months, where I haven't even had to think about work or some project that I've got due, so my attention turned to pins.  I'd acquired quite a few pins since late February until now, so I scanned them all this afternoon and added them to the site this evening.  I've got quite a few site design changes that I'd like to work on, some cosmetic and others just for the sake of putting specific topics of pins on their own page, so hopefully I'll find myself with some more free time in the coming weeks.  *I'm trying to focus on obtaining the Salt Lake City Coke pins I still need for my collection, which is a rather large number of pins, so if you should happen to have any SLC Coke pins then please feel free to contact me.

2/04/02 - *I've been trading pins at a good pace, so I've pulled quite a few pins from the site, but I've also added a bunch.  I added quite a few pins to the Coke Atlanta Limited Edition and SLC Coke pages today - 19 pins total between the 2 pages.  *I added a few trade pins here and there, mainly SLC pins and I've put a few pins on hold for trades that I'm working on.

1/28/02 - *As I mentioned before, my big box 'o pins was overflowing again.  For that reason, I've updated the site with 65 pins this afternoon.  *I added a bunch of SLC Coke, a few non-Coke SLC sponsors, 2 Berlin bid pins and a slew of general variety Coke pins (most are foreign).  *I also just received my Olympin membership pin in the mail today and all I can say is, "Wow!"  It's along the same design as the 2001 pin design, with the SL Olympic logo in the center and the flags around the edge, except this one says 2002 and has a white background.  It's also marked "1/750" on the back.  Trust me when I say that the $15 you spend to join the club, is definitely worth the price of the pin alone!

1/07/02 - *Hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and New Year, I know I did!  *With this update I've deleted a few pins from my 'Most Wanted' page and added a few more.  I told you 'Most Wanted' page is a never-ending process!  *For some odd reason I'm starting that big old box 'o pins again.  That's when pins I've bought and/or traded for arrive in the mail, and rather than immediately scan them and add them to the site, I just toss them into the box.  Depending on how large the box gets, you can almost count on a 50 to 100 pin update in the near future.  I need to get out of that habit.

12/22/01 - *I scanned and added 97 pins to the site today.   *The most noticeable updates were done to my 'Most Wanted' page and to all of the SLC pages.  I also added a few 1996 Coke pins that I've picked up within the past few weeks, including a rare 2 pin error set.  *I still have a bunch of general pins (non-Olympic and non-Coke) that I need to scan and add to the trade pages, but I tend to do those only when I don't have anything else to scan.   Yes, I'm being lazy :-)  *I do believe that about wraps it up.  If you're reading this, I hope your holiday was merry and bright!

11/05/01 - *Sorry for the lack of updates, but I took a much needed vacation away from home (and my pc if you can believe it!) for almost 2 weeks last month.  *Today I added a few pins to the site, that I've obtained over the past month, including: 3 rarely seen 1996 Coke pins (1 a color variation), 13 SLC pins (5 are Coke), 1 Sydney Coke, 8 General Coke pins, 13 non-Coke pins and 1 Varsity restaurant pin.  *I added a page for 'First Time Site Visitors', to explain what my site is about and what other pin topics I like to dabble with.  A page for 'Recently Released SLC Coke Pins and Info', as well as a 'Warning' page for some recently reissued SLC Coke pins.  A page for 'Restaurant Pins', one of the aforementioned "other pin topics" that I like to dabble with.   *I updated the 'Links' page to include Coca-Cola's new 2002 Torch Relay site and a few other links to pin sites that I've recently come across that are worth taking a look at.  *I have a slew of new pins for trade, mostly professional sports related, I just need to get them scanned.

10/02/01 - *I've made quite a few updates since July 24th, but I just haven't updated this page.  If anyone out there follows this page, then I'm sorry about that.  *I've been acquiring general soda related pins (Pepsi, Dr Pepper, etc.) at a steady rate, so watch for those pages to expand in the coming months.  *I've been toying with the idea of actually changing the name of my site from "CokePinz!" to "SodaPins.com", as one would sort of expect, but I just don't have the heart to do it yet.  That and the fact that my collection focuses on Coca-Cola pins and all of the other soda pins are just something that I play with on the side.  *This evening I added 4 new Coke SLC pins to the site (one of these was also added to the SLC trade page), 2 non-Coke SLC sponsor pins, a few SLC food pins (I finally got a hold of Mormon Muffin #1 - Yippee!), another 1984 Sam 'Have a Coke & a Smile', the Nagano Coke single neck guitar pin, 4 limited Sydney Coke pins and 1 UPS pin to the general 'Sports' trade page.

7/24/01 - *The lot of 250 Atlanta sponsor pins has come in, but I'm still taking the collection apart, so pictures and updates won't be posted for a little while.  *I acquired a few pins that were on my 'Most Wanted' list, so I deleted them from the list and then added a few more.  My 'want list' is a never ending process.  *I took a quick inventory of my pins, not an in-depth inventory though, and the number of just Coca-Cola pins in my collection (Bid pins, Non-Coke Atlanta, non-Coke SLC, etc. weren't included) stands at 1,479.  I figure I'll take a detailed in-depth inventory within the next few weeks and then I'll list how many of each type of pin I have in my collection.   I'll put the totals in the middle of the main section pages (Atlanta, Sydney, Nagano, etc.) and I'll update it each time I add a new pin to the page.  A running tally of pins.  That should get to be pretty interesting :-)

7/17/01 - *I brought home 150 pins from Lake Placid, with only 14 of those being traders, plus 2 framed pin sets.  I updated almost every page this afternoon, with the majority of the updates being done to the Salt Lake, Bid and Nagano pages.  *I still haven't updated any of the "Pin Sets" pages, because I didn't even have pics up of most of the sets I have in my collection.  I took pictures of all of my pin sets this afternoon with my digital camera, but the quality is definitely lacking.  When I finally get  the 'sets pages' updated, I'll post the digital pics for the time being, and then replace them when I get around to using a 35mm camera.  *I acquired quite a few pins that had been on my 'Wish List', and I added a bunch more, so please check it out to see if you might have a pin that I need.  *Also, just wanted to mention that I'm still waiting for that collection of 250 sponsor pins to arrive, which hopefully will be here by tomorrow afternoon.  Hopefully I'll be able to get everything sorted, scanned and then on the site sometime this coming weekend.  I guess we'll see though.

7/10/01 - *Second update of the day, to these pages: almost every General Coca-Cola page, the Bid Pins page, almost every Salt Lake page, the Sydney Trade page (again), the Varsity page, the Non-Coke Atlanta page, the Coke Atlanta Olympic City page, and the Coke Atlanta Foreign pin page too.  That'll be it for the updates, until I get home from the show.

7/10/01 - *I did a quick update to the Sydney Non-Coke and Trade pages, as well as the Atlanta Coca-Cola Trade page.  Being that I've been sorting through pins for the past 2 days, that I'm taking with me to the Olympin show, I've added and deleted a few here and there.  *Be prepared for numerous updates starting on Tuesday the 17th, because I just bought a huge collection of Atlanta sponsor pins, plus I'll be adding what I'll be bringing home from the show.  Should be some good pins in the mix, so stay tuned.

7/04/01 - *Well, I'm finally my own dot com.  How cool is that?  :-)  The new address is actually a result of NBCi shutting down their web portal (say free web space) and my site being so large.  It's a little over 40MB in size and I didn't really feel like slicing and dicing my site over a number of free web space providers, so I acquired my own domain name and found myself a reliable hosting provider.  For the time being, this is still just a hobby site, but I'm hoping to offer pins for sale here sometime down the road.  Not any time soon, mind you, but eventually.  *Pages that were updated this evening include: all pre-1996 pages, Nagano Coke, Atlanta Limited Edition, Non-Pin Guide and Torch Relay, Salt Lake City Coke, and almost all of the General Coke pages too.  *I'm attending the Lake Placid Olympin show next week (I'm leaving on Wednesday the 11th), so be prepared for lots of updates the following week!

5/03/01 - *I promise the 'Trade Page' updates are coming soon, but I just haven't had the time to update them yet.  *I'll be adding images of 144 pins over the next few days, so hopefully I can get the trade pages updated and organized by this week end.  *I recently learned that most of the e-mail's to my cokepinz@icubed.com address have not been coming through since late March, so if you've e-mailed me and I haven't responded, then please send your e-mail again!  This was a result of my going out of town on business and forwarding my e-mail to another address.  I was busier than I thought I'd be, so my e-mail went unchecked.  I  forgot to redirect the e-mail's when I finally came home, and what I wasn't aware of was the space limitations that were placed on my e-mail account, so it appears the messages have been deleted from the server.

4/03/01 - *I attended the Savage Mill show last weekend, where I obtained 86 loose pins, a 10 pin set, plus a bunch of other goodies.  Not all of the pins I obtained are for my collection, so expect to see the trade pages finally revamped.  *Pages that were updated this evening include: all of the Sydney pages, almost all of the Salt Lake City pages, a few Atlanta pages, as well as a few of the Nagano pages too.

3/06/01 - *Not too much along the lines of actual pin updates, but I'm finally getting around to tidying up the place.  *I plan on scanning my butt off this coming weekend, so hopefully I can get all of the pages updated then too.

2/26/01 - *I finally broke down and bought a new computer, so please bear with me, concerning updates to the site.  I used floppy disks to transfer all of my pin images, etc. over to my new computer and I think I've just about got everything :-)  My scanner's SCSI card is not compatible with my new computer's pre-installed operating system (Windows ME), so any pins that I need to place on my page will get scanned on my old computer and then transferred over to the new one.  Since I haven't been able to immediately scan new pins as they arrive, and get them organized in my pin files, I now have a huge box 'o pins that need added to the site.  Make that one box full and starting on another :-)  *I updated the 'Most Wanted' page to reflect some pins that I've recently gotten a hold of, but that's about it for the time being.  Hopefully I can spend some quality time with my old pc and scanner next weekend and get all the new pins posted.  *Expect to see my pins 'for trade' pages to get a huge overhaul and update within the next 2 weeks too. The Savage Mill Olympic Show (in Maryland) is coming up at the end of March and I've got to get everything that I'm taking with me organized, so while I'm doing that I'll be revamping the trade pages too.   *I also finished up the 'Site Map' and the 'General Coca-Cola' pin pages...yippee!

1/29/01 - *Lots of updates to the Sydney sections, including the dual sponsored Coca-Cola & Home Depot 8 pin set.  I found 2 of them, so the other set is posted on my trade page ;-)  *Added a few '96 Torch Relay pins, updated the 'Pin Guide' Guide page to reflect a few recent additions, as well as the 'Rare & Limited Edition' page.  *I also updated the Coke Atlanta trade page with a few new rare pins that I have doubles of.  *I have about 30 pins that I still need to scan and add to the site, with most of them being 'general' Coca-Cola pins, but 2 of those are the new SLC 2002 Iceberg Rocky Road and Grasshopper milk shake pins.  *Last, but certainly not least, I updated my 'Most Wanted' page.

12/04/00 - *I updated the site, but forgot to mention here what I updated.  Sorry about that.

11/12/00 - *Updates have been long overdue.  *I've added a large amount of new pins to my collection and I've made numerous trades.  *I've also finally gotten the basic layout for the 'Site Map' page up, as well as the 'Past Olympic' and 'General Coca-Cola' pin pages too.  *With the Sydney 2000 Olympics now over, and many new pins appearing on the market, that particular area has become my focus for the time being.  I'll have many new 2000 pins coming in over the next few weeks, with lots of doubles as trade pins, so be prepared ;-)

5/30/00 - *The ENTIRE site is brand new!  I hope you enjoy it :-)  I re-launched the site without adding the pop-up notations on the majority of the 1996 Coca-Cola pins, but those are soon to come.  I'm still working on polishing those pages up.  I decided to post the site, before I have the 'general Coke' section finished, but hopefully I'll get all that done by Monday.  Please feel free to e-mail me if you run across any dead links, missing images, etc.  I've done the best I can, but I might have missed a couple of things somewhere.

3/13/00 - *Added a bunch of new pins to these pages: Pin Guide, Non-Guide, Torch Relay, Foreign, Olympic Support and Limited Edition.  *Updated the Most Wanted page to reflect the Guide Pins that I still need.   *Decided to hold off updating the trade pages until after the Savage Mill Olympic show (3/24 to 3/26).

2/21/00 - *Added a bunch of new pins to these pages: Pin Guide, Non-Guide, Torch Relay, Limited Edition and Sets.  *Added a few new pins to the '96 Coke trade page.  *Updated the Most Wanted page.

1/25/00 - *Added 4 pins to the Pin Guide page and 1 to the Non-Guide page.  *Updated the trade pages.  *Updated the Most Wanted page.

1/16/00 - *Added 20+ pins to the Pin Guide page.  *Added another Pin Set.  *Updated the trade pages.

1/03/00 - *Added a few Pin Guide pins, 5 individual Day pins, 3 Pin Sets, 1 Olympic City pin and 2 IGA pins.  *Added a few new pins to the '96 Coke trade page.  *I'll be updating my "Most Wanted" page soon to reflect all of the Pin Guide pins that I still need.  *I still have a bunch of pins that I need to add to the "Other" trade pages too.

12/14/99 - *Added a few Pin Guide pins, Non-Guide pins, Torch Relay pins, foreign pins and some more traders.

11/30/99 - *I've added new Torch Relay pins, a few Pin-Guide pins and some other Non-Guide pins.  A bunch of IGA pins have been added.  *Added a few new pins to the '96 Coke Trade page too.

11/22/99 - *Finally, I've updated the trade pages!  *I've also added a few more Coca-Cola pins.  *Links page.  *I've acquired 3 different framed pin sets that I still need to take pics of.  Those should be up by next week at the latest.

10/18/99 - It's been quite a while since I've updated the site, and I've added plenty of new pinz to my collection since then.  I figured I'd add this page so that if you do stop by the site frequently, you'll know what's been updated since the last time you were here.  Here's what's been added:  *This page ;-)  *Foreign Pinz Page - The number of foreign pinz in my collection has started to increase, so I've grouped all of the foreign pinz onto one page for easier viewing.  *I added a "Olympic Related, but Non Pinz" page to my trade pages.  I have yet to update my trade pages, but trust me, I've got plenty of pins to add!
